"I MaCDO." Fast food chain McDonald's said yesterday it is to host weddings in its Hong Kong restaurants for couples who want to tie the knot with a fast-food feast.

The US chain said it was taking reservations from yesterday for wedding parties of 50 to 100 people at three of its Hong Kong restaurants from January 1.

Wedding packages are expected to run to hundreds of US dollars per party, rather than thousands of dollars for a normal wedding, and will include features like a McDonald's apple pie wedding cake.

Couples will have to supply their own registrar to conduct the wedding and make do with soft drinks for the toast as none of Hong Kong's McDonald's restaurants is licensed.

McDonald's opened its first Hong Kong restaurant in 1975 and now has more than 200 in the city of seven million - one of the highest densities of its outlets in the world.
