DJ Richie Hawtin will be playing in Johannesburg on Saturday February 16 and in Cape Town on February 15.

The techno legend will be supported in Johannesburg at Truth by line-up that includes over 23 top local acts including Black Coffee, Culoe De Song, DJ Fresh, Andi Dill, Digital Rockit, Phat Jack, Euphonik, Ryan Dent, Dirty Herz, Unsound System and Kid Fonque.

Touring all tempos from deep house and dubstep to techno and trance - eclecticism is the key to this varied but complimentary line-up which aims to showcase only the best in club music.

Globally recognised for his forward-thinking approach to making and playing electronic music, Hawtin’s long career spans from the germination of his Plus 8 records label in 1990 to his repertoire as Plastikman through to his present day role as head of M_nus records and globe-trotting DJ.

Hawtin’s imminent arrival has generated huge excitement within the electronic music community.  "Looking forward to experiencing another show with a legend from another world” says headliner Culoe De Song, “I am sure we shall meet the universal laws of music, a language for all.”.

The event is uniting industry leaders from a variety of disciplines. World renowned visual artist Ali M. Demirel will be providing spectacular visuals for Hawtin’s set.  Don't Look Down’s executive producer Glenn van Loggerenberg leads the local production team – "As one of the world's leading electronic performers, Richie Hawtin not only pioneers relentless innovation, he combines remarkable integrity with futuristic entertainment. The impact he will have on our musical landscape is very difficult to anticipate, but it will certainly have been worth the time we have invested in getting him here.”.

Hawtin is the first global ambassador for newly launched NGO Bridges for Music which aims to enhance the opportunities through music and create positive change in disadvantaged areas across the world by uniting key players within the music industry.

Local ambassadors Black Coffee, DJ Fresh and Niskerone will be hosting workshops alongside Hawtin in Soweto and Gugulethu.

“Richie Hawtin is a global superstar, and one of the hardest working people in entertainment,” says Truth’s Guy Herman.

“We are proud to be part of not only bringing Richie to South Africa for the first time but to be able to leave a legacy after his tour through his work with Bridges for Music in underprivileged communities.” R10 from every ticket sold will be contributed towards this bold initiative.

Doors open at 8PM and presale tickets are R250 and available at Webtickets.

Cape Town fans will be able to see Hawtin at the Cape Town Electronic Music Festival.
