Oprah Winfrey is hosting a giant yard sale in Santa Barbara, California, to raise funds for the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation College Fund.

Oprah Winfrey is hosting a giant yard sale for charity on Saturday.

The talk show host is offloading hundreds of her personal belongings from her homes in Hawaii, Indiana and California, in three huge tents at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club to raise funds for the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation College Fund, which is dedicated to helping graduates of her school in South Africa attend colleges and universities around the world.

The 59-year-old star told 'Entertainment Tonight' before shortly before the sale: "It's just too much stuff. I talk about it a lot in ['O'] the magazine. We talk about decluttering. And I realised, I need to declutter my own life. It is very freeing. I am downsizing."

She added: "I'm trying not to be attached to things. I'm trying to live the life that I talk about, like not letting things define you. But it's hard."

Electric scooters, fine art and antique furniture are among the items that will be sold at the auction.

The media mogul also admitted she has amassed a huge collection of dolls over the years and is planning to sell most of them.

She said: "People come to stay with me, and they say they get scared with all the dolls. You wake up, and there's like 12 dolls staring at you."
