The SABC has replaced Generations with drama Skeem Saam as MMSV apparently works on rebuilding cast and script.

Following news that the sixteen axed cast of Generations have turned to the CCMA to assist in their case of unfair dismissal against MMSV - the SABC has released a statement that it will replace the popular soapie with drama Skeem Saam.

The Sepedi show currently airs at 6.30 pm on weekdays and was recently introduced as a full on soapie. According to the SABC, Generations would return to screens after new episodes were filmed as these had run out after sixteen actors were sacked.

The public broadcaster added that the TV schedule changes were minor and viewers could look forward to Generations in December.

Mfundi Vundla, Generations creator and MMSV owner has repeatedly stated he would not entertain taking back the sixteen. This latest move by the SABC to take the soapie off air is seen as a final declaration by Vundla to replace the sixteen and begin work on a new Generations.

Meanwhile, Drum magazine reports that Bongi Ndaba, co-producer and head writer at Generations has resigned at the height of the soapie's revamp. Ndaba would not go into details of her resignation.

She joined the award winning drama about eight years ago and had been at the helm of it's gripping storylines as she lead the writing team. According to the weekly magazine, Ndaba's boyfriend and the father of her child, Thato Molamu is one of the sixteen actors who went on strike and were fired from the show.
