Former Kaya FM radio presenter Nonn Botha has been investigated by the Pan South African Language board for apparently failing to speak the Sesotho language properly on vernacular radio station, Lesedi FM.

According to the board, they have received complaints about Botha's handling of the Sesotho language.

The Sowetan reports that Botha might lose her job as the mid morning host on Lesedi FM. The newspaper quotes Vusi Ntlakena, provincial manager of the language board saying he had received calls, emails and letters from listeners who were unhappy with Botha.

"Because we are a language board, we have the grounds to get her removed. We received a lot of complaints. We then did our own investigation by listening to her show and heard what listeners were complaining about," said Ntlakena.

According to The Sowetan, Botha's suspension is imminent although she denied knowing anything about it.

Kaizer Kganyago, SABC spokesperson told Daily Sun, Botha needed time to adjust to speaking Sotho as she was previously with Kaya FM, an English speaking station.

"Nonn does speak Sesotho. She spent six years at an English-speaking station and obviously the transition might take time.”
