‘Why do you care so much about how I’m dressed?’ asks Mpho Maboi

Mpho Maboi has recently come out against internet trolls‚ particularly women‚ who plague her on her social media account with negative comments. Speaking to Pearl Modiadie and Amon Mokoena on Metro FM’s The Great Escape‚ Mpho revealed that she has learnt to deal with the copious amounts of backlash she receives from women on social media.“In the beginning it used to affect me‚ social media used to affect me so much. But now I’ve learned that more often than not‚ when someone doesn’t have anything nice to say‚ it’s easier to be mean‚” the sports personality explained. Adding‚ “They’re frustrated somehow and they can’t get in. So they lash out at me because it’s easier which is the saddest thing because it’s easier to just ask me.”Mpho also said she receives a number of messages from women who are interested in delving into the sporting industry and that she’s usually receptive‚ but warned that if you attack her‚ there’s hardly any chance that she will help. She also argued that people often pick on how she’s dressed‚ however‚ say nothing about male sports presenters‚ including Thomas Mlambo‚ Robert Marawa‚ and Phumlane Msibi.“Why do you care so much about how I’m dressed? Care about what’s coming out of my mouth. There‚ you are telling me something constructive but if you care so much about what I’m wearing I’ll see you next week‚ hold on a bit.”..
