Following a deadly shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida on Sunday - a host of local and international celebrities have lamented the victims of the worst mass shooting in U.S. history.

A heavily armed man reportedly opened fire on patrons at Orlando hot spot Pulse, a popular gay nightclub, claiming the lives of 50 people, and leaving at least 53 injured.

Taking to social media, famous faces expressed their condolences for the victims while also pushing for social and political change.

"What happened in Orlando is beyond words... It's a nightmare and a tragedy that one can't explain! But it's about time that we start to realize that we are human beings living on planet earth all after one thing and that's love and happiness!" Micasa wrote on a heartfelt note alongside a 'Pray For Orlando' picture on Instagram.

"Not one of us are entitled to judge how others can find that love and happiness... We make music that carries a positive [message]... A message that uplifts and carries love! We feel that's our responsibility... So much of music is about fighting and hatred etc. We need to respect one another and forget about our differences and focus on what we have in common... A desire for a Love and happiness!" the SAMA-award winning trio added.

US pop star Lady Gaga wrote: "Stand strong [with your] pride, it belongs to [you]. Love is opposite of hate. My sincerest mourning [for] LGBTQ's suffering 2day. I pray for gun control and a cultural revolution of kindness. For all people. We can't divide in the face of evil, we must stick together and heal each other we are brothers and sisters."

While Beyoncé simply expressed: "Condolences and prayers to Orlando."

 

Kim Kardashian also weighed in on gun laws in the US, in addition to sending her tribute to the victims of the massacre.

 

 

 

Josh Groban expressed his heartbreak.

 

Following the nightclub shooting, the 2016 Tony Awards, which took place on Sunday, were dedicated to the attack victims' loved ones.

"Our hearts are heavy for the unimaginable tragedy that happened last night in Orlando," read a statement. "Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those affected. The Tony Awards dedicate tonight's ceremony to them," said the producers of the ceremony.
