Hot on the heels of a nude video appearing to show Bongani Zungu fondling himself in the shower, the footballer's agent has spoken out on the incident.

Speaking to TMG Entertainment on Tuesday, agent Steven Kapeluschnik said that the video was never intended for the public domain.

"The information on Bongani's phone was private and confidential. It was never meant for the public domain," Kapeluschnik said.

He added that Zungu's camp is currently investigating the matter to establish if the phone was hacked and how the information was released.

"We apologise to anyone who might have been offended by the video."

The comments come in the wake of a social media frenzy, after the leaked nude video went viral on Monday  evening.

The video was uploaded to a Snapchat account bearing the footballer's name and surname.

In the video, the soccer star is seen standing naked in the shower and appears to be fondling his genitalia. This was followed by a second video which appeared to show the footballer pouting for the camera and making pelvic thrusts.

The video was captured by the account's followers and was shared on Twitter. It soon trended as fans and celebrities responded to it.
