Just days after being unveiled as the global ambassador for the Stop Hunger campaign, celebrity chef Siba Mtongana has said that the campaign has collected 2 million meals so far.

The campaign aims to collect a total of 10 million in nine days.

"Putting on my gloves to fight hunger... So far we've packed over 2million meals in South Africa alone," Siba said on social media.

The foodie thanked everyone who turned up to support the campaign and help make a difference in the lives of others.

"A big shout out to all those who came out in their numbers nationwide to make a difference to other people's lives. It's not about packing meals but about transforming lives and restoring human dignity," she added.

The Stop Hunger Now campaign aims to eradicate hunger in impoverished communities across Africa by providing food to families.

When Siba was named as one of the foundation's ambassadors, she said it is a role that's close to her heart.

"I'm thrilled and feel very honored to be chosen as the Global Ambassador. Addressing the scourge of hunger in Africa and the world at large is a cause that I take seriously and is very dear to my heart," Siba said.
