South African zef group Die Antwoord nearly started a Twitter riot on Wednesday after they accused the director of Hollywood film Suicide Squad of stealing their style.

The group found themselves on the Twitter trends list on Wednesday after ¥o-landi Vi$$er took to Instagram to post a video showing all the ways the film had copied their unique style.

And while their claims probably had fans flocking to see the similarities, many more took to Twitter to debate whether the group were right- unfortunately for Ninja and the crew, it seems fans think they might not have a case.

Even local musician JR got in on the action, accusing the group of "exploiting SA black culture."
