Actress Motsoaledi Setumo has opened up about personal tragedies of her past, which cornered her to become an adult at a very young age.

According to a DRUM report, Motsoaledi's mother was involved in a freak car accident which left her a quadriplegic - having partial or total loss of  use of all four limbs and torso - just two years after her parents got divorced

At eight years old, she had to take on the role of an adult in order to be able to take care of her mother.

"I was a wreck, and all my life I was a loner because of that," she told the local publication.

"I wasn’t allowed to cry. She didn’t want me to show emotion," she added.

After auditioning three times to land the role of Thabitha Cele on Generations: The Legacy, Motsoaledi’s career has known only growth. She currently stars on Mzansi Magic's hit telenovela Greed and Desire, as Tselane Dlamini, who is Maru Makgetha's gold-digging girlfriend.
