It's been a couple of days since Alicia Keys showed up to the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) make-up free, and a number of people still have a lot of feelings about it. Now, Alicia's husband Swizz Beatz is adding his own voice to the narrative.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, the rapper tried to make sense of people's outrage over Alicia's decision to not wear make-up over the past few months.

"This is deep. Somebody sitting home mad because somebody didn’t wear make-up on their face,” he said in a clip with a puzzled look on his face.

"Not your face, but they didn’t put make-up on their face because they just didn’t feel like wearing make-up. But you mad because that person didn’t put on make-up to please you? Type of sh** is this? Cause you can do whatever you wanna do. She didn’t tell y’all don’t wear no make-up. She just said that she’s not vibin’ with the make-up all the way 100 percent like that. That’s kinda her thing that she wanna do," he continued.

Alicia also addressed critics of her natural look via Twitter, writing, "Y’all, me choosing to be makeup free doesn’t mean I’m anti-makeup. Do you!" alongside a selfie sans the slap.

This comes after the R&B singer penned a piece for Lenny Letter in May explaining her decision to stop wearing make-up.

"I don’t want to cover up anymore. Not my face, not my mind, not my soul, not my thoughts, not my dreams, not my struggles, not my emotional growth. Nothing," she wrote.
