Boity Thulo evoked a flurry of emotions when she was featured in a moving art exhibition in Johannesburg on Wednesday.

Boity's portrayal of a woman being abused, was one of the key pieces in the Story of Man art exhibition by local photographer Thabiso Aro Moyakhe.

Images from the exhibition show the TV personality crying a single golden tear in her desperation and sadness, as the shadow of a man's hand looms threateningly over her.

The exhibition, which also features the likes of Basetsana Kumalo and Maps Maponyane, tells the story of a man in several different stages of life.

Speaking to TMG Entertainment on Thursday Boity said that she was honoured to feature in an image that spreads such a powerful message.

"I think the message that Thabiso was trying to get across was about abuse, and how beauty can be brought to such sadness when faced with it. It's a powerful image and when I saw it for the first time I was amazed at how beautifully sad it is," Boity said.

Take a look at some of the other powerful images from the exhibition.
