'Stay focused'- Pearl Thusi tells Babes Wodumo

Pearl Thusi knows all about facing backlash and criticism. So, in an effort to help out someone who is at the centre of many storms, Pearl has offered some words of wisdom to Babes Wodumo.

It's no secret that Babes has come under fire over the past few weeks amidst swirling controversy over her hit single Mercedes, which coincidently has the same name as a 'killer drug'.

The Wololo hitmaker also faced backlash when she took to the MAMAs stage over the weekend. Some people were left 'unimpressed' with Babes' performance, saying it lacked 'energy'.

But Pearl, who knows all about dealing with hate and the pressures that comes with being in the industry, had some words of encouragement for the rising star.

Taking to Twitter shortly after the MAMAs, Pearl told Babes not be distracted by the commentary.

"Keep at it honey. Focus on what you love and don't get distracted. Stay focused @Babeswodumo," Pearl said.

Following the controversy that has surrounded Babes' latest single Mercedes, which has the same name as a 'killer drug' in KZN, the singer is set to launch an anti-drug campaign.

"In the aftermath of this unfortunate series of events Babes Wodumo has decided to come up with a campaign that seeks to create and address awareness against drug use amongst South African youth," read a statement by Babes' management.

The statement went on to add that more details around the campaign would be released soon.
