It has been an emotionally-charged week for those close to slain soccer star Senzo Meyiwa, who was gunned down on 26 October 2014.

Friends, family and fans remembered the late soccer star with touching tributes in his honour on Wednesday, which marked the second anniversary of his death.

Songstress Kelly Khumalo held nothing back when she spoke to Sowetan earlier this week.

"God has brought me so far. My man was killed in front of me and people had so much to say; others said I belonged in jail for something I had nothing to do with. But God has been with me and I can go home to be the best mother I can be," she told the paper.

Kelly added that even though she still feels pain, she can't sit around in sadness.

"I'm on set. I can't afford to sit at home and sulk and mourn. I've had to brush it off. I can't be falling apart every year on this day. It is what it is. It's painful, but I've decided let me go on."

A few weeks ago Kelly revealed during an interview with Anele Mdoda on Real Talk that she had penned a song in honour of Senzo's memory, which is part of her album My Truth.

The much-anticipated album dropped on iTunes on Friday morning.

Speaking about the song at the time, Kelly said that she wanted to do something that will remain forever.

"A song that will stay forever. It will always be in the Kelly Khumalo archives for years to come. And one day when my daughter listens to it she will know how I felt about her father," she said at the time.
