Mabala Noise says everything is fine between the label and its artist DJ Bongz, following reports that the company didn’t pay the DJ his share of a booking.

According to Sunday Sun, the pair found themselves in hot water recently when Bongz didn't pitch to an event that he was supposed to perform at in Cape Town.

The event's organisers told the paper that they had paid Mabala Noise, booked flights and even rented a car for Bongz, but he never showed up. The organiser demanded his money back from the label.

  •

And while the label said that they would refund the event's organiser, DJ Bongz hinted to possible trouble between himself and the label in his response to the claims.

"I won’t answer anything. Mabala Noise knows why I didn’t pitch. They didn’t pay me my share of the booking," Bongz told the publication.

But speaking to TshisaLIVE on Monday, Mabala Noise said that there was no bad blood.

"Everything is fine at Mabala Noise. We are aware of the incident and you will have to speak to DJ Bongz. But from our side, there is no issue," Mabala Noise spokesperson Tumi Moatshe said.

Another Mabala Noise spokesperson Mhlo Gumede confirmed the incident to TshisaLIVE but said that the event's organisers were refunded in full and that there was no issue with Bongz.

"He (DJ Bongz) is not paid per gig. He is paid monthly. It is an internal matter but I assure you that DJ Bongz was not being malicious when he said that he was not paid his share of the booking," Mhlo added.

Bongz refused to comment to TshisaLIVE on the incident, referring us to Mabala Noise.
