Celebrities share touching memories of Lundi Tyamara

Celebrities and other high-profile personalities have joined thousands of fans in paying tribute to gospel star Lundi Tyamara who died during the early of hours of Friday morning.

In the wake of the gospel legend's death his celebrity friends have remembered the way Lundi touched the lives of thousands of people through his music.

Fellow gospel musician Andile KaMajola said he was heartbroken by Lundi's death.

Songstress Zahara paid tribute to the star through song.

Minister of Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa sent his condolences to Lundi's family. "It is with a deep sense of grief and sadness that we have learnt of the untimely passing of Gospel Star and Legend Lundi Tyamara," he said.

Singer Vusi Nova detailed the first time he met Lundi. "Woke up to the news that this soldier has fallen...what a talent, what a voice! My deepest condolences to his family and friends. Had the pleasure of meeting him for the first time at mama Winnie Mandela's birthday party last year and he put on a hell of a show even thou he wasn't well! Your music will live on. Rest in peace Lundi," he said.

Lundi died at Edenvale Hospital on Friday morning where he was being treated for stomach TB and liver complications. The gospel star had been in and out of hospital since December, however his condition turned critical on Monday and he was moved to ICU.
