Riky Rick has been crucified for his fashion sense but has had the last laugh after making the latest cover of GQ Style South Africa.

Riky is the latest star to grace the cover of the magazine and took to Instagram to let his followers know how much it meant to him.

He reflected on how he and his friends have been seen as weirdos because of their style.

  • IN MEMES: Three questions we need answered from last night's Date My FamilyBachelorette Kholiwe went looking for love on this weekend's episode of Date My Family, and boy did we have loads of questions.

"Not too long ago me and my group of friends were considered weirdos because of our sense of style. We were laughed at by the commercial crowd for the way we cut our hair and the way we wore 'weird' clothes. People like Scoop Makhathini, Mome Mahlangu, Okmalumkoolkat, uSanele, Stilo Magolide and many others took me in and taught me it's okay to be different."

He said that this group of friends gave him "the opportunity to be a part of redefining cool" and said that he would have lost without them.

Riky has trended on social media several times for his outfits and in his post encouraged his young fans to be different.

  • Apparently that Cassper and AKA peace hug was just 'a publicity stunt'Just when we thought the beef between Cassper and AKA was buried deep in the history books, Cassper has claimed that the moment which signalled the end of their feud was just a "calculated" publicity stunt thought up by his rival.

"Any kid out there who thinks they do not have a voice that represents them or feels like society is not ready for the ideas they have, you are not alone. There are a million kids just like you out there. Find them, get together and change the culture for those who will come after you. This cover is not tick on my resume but it is a smoke signal for you guys to run through the gates before they figure out a way to lock you out again," he added.

Riky famously preached a similar sermon to young musicians at the Metro FM Music Awards in February. Accepting an award at the ceremony, Riky told artists that if they weren't being played on radio they should challenge the system and make a change.
