Not today, Satan! Denise Zimba is not here for all those skin bleaching claims

The star has had her fair share of criticism during her TV career, especially since her recent return to South Africa. One of the most stinging claims was that Denise lightened her skin in an attempt to get further in the industry.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE at the launch of the second season of Ridiculousness Africa, Denise lambasted the claims.

"Not at all! I am a proud African woman. Yes, I have foreign heritage but I am full black. No! Don't get it confused," she said angrily.

She said has sometimes been asked if she was coloured, but said that she was black and proud of her heritage.

She also slammed the belief that a lighter complexion meant that a person was not from South Africa

"I hate the whole depiction that if you are lighter you are from somewhere else. No! Take me as I am. The fun, strong, empowered woman that I am. Forget my skin colour or how long my weave is, take me for who I am as a soul," Denise said.
