Joyce Skefu on Friday recounted the day she suffered a stroke in March 2022, giving a health update to her followers.

The long-time Scandal! actress detailed her experience in a series of Instagram posts.

She woke at 4am needing to go to the toilet and found she “couldn't walk” as she couldn't get herself out of bed.

She recalled throwing herself on to the floor and watching half her body “die slowly”.

“It was traumatising. I crawled on one side to go to the toilet, it was scary.”

Joyce, who has been sharing her recovery journey with fans, said she was grateful to God for her deliverance.

“He fought for me. He kept lifting the standard against stroke. Stroke is cruel, is mean. I came a long way. First and foremost, there was no sign at all.”

In another post, Joyce shared a video from her session with a physiotherapist

Two years ago Lira also suffered a stroke, while in Germany, which affected her ability to communicate.

Since then the Afro-pop singer has been sharing her recovery journey with her followers, revealing she also lost her sense of rhythm and tone but has been practising singing since February.

Lira is now gearing to return to the big stage.

The singer is set to perform at The Baseline Fest at constitution Hill on May 25.
