An Indian man was granted a divorce on the grounds that his wife had an "insatiable appetite for sex," reports said.

The man filed for divorce in a Mumbai court in January saying his wife was "aggressive and autocratic," and had harassed him over sex demands since their marriage in April 2012, the Deccan Chronicle reported.

The judge dissolved the marriage, saying the woman did not respond to a summons ordering her to appear in court, the Daily News and Analysis reported.

The man said his wife forced him to have medicines to increase his sexual stamina, and he claimed that he had been hospitalised once because of her demands.

"It is intolerable for him and he cannot bear anymore atrocities at the hands of the respondent (woman)," the petition said.

"He apprehends danger to his life and limb. The respondent has made his life horrible by her cruel behaviour."
