Malaysia will release an interim report on the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 on March 7, the day before the first anniversary of its disappearance, a senior transportation official said Wednesday.

The report would include some findings of the investigation, but "we have not concluded on the status of the plane, as the search is still ongoing," Deputy Transport Minister Aziz Kaprawi told reporters on the sidelines of an aviation security meeting in Kuala Lumpur.

MH 370 disappeared with 239 people on board an hour after taking off from Kuala Lumpur for Beijing.

Search operations were continuing in the southern Indian Ocean, where data showed the jetliner was likely to have crashed.
