A man sued Applebee's after he burnt himself saying grace over a sizzling steak fajita skillet.

New Jersey's Hiram Jimenez visited the restaurant in Burlington County with his brother, Rafael and ordered a steak fajita which was brought to him on a sizzling skillet nj.com reports.

When he bowed before the his head to pray over the food, the sizzling grease popped, hitting his left eye. He then panicked, knocking the food onto his lap.

While none of the burns left any scarring, he claimed he suffered serious injury and that the restaurant was negligent in serving him hot food.

Unfortunately for Jimenez, the court found that despite the fact that the waitress had not warned him that the loud sizzling sound from the skillet meant it was hot, it was pretty self evident.

Jimenez appealed the ruling to a higher court, only for the appeals panel to agree.
