Russia has launched at least two official investigations into 'grammar Nazis'.

According to the Moscow Times, prosecutors in southern Russia questioning Alexei Pavlovsky, the head of Bonus Media, which supports the local branch of the Total Dictation educational project.

"They asked me first about the dictation, about my other civil initiatives, and then politely inquired about what I knew about grammar Nazis, and whether they were financing my activities," Pavlovsky wrote.

They showed him logos designed by the "grammar Nazi" movement, including a G stylised to look like a swastika, with the slogan "Grammatik Macht Frei".

"They also inquired how I felt about people who make [spelling or grammatical] errors, and whether I had any desire to eliminate them," Pavlovsky said.

They also demanded to see Bonus Meida's "partnership agreement" with the Total Dictation agreement.

Earlier this year, a blogger in Siberia was convicted of promoting Nazi propaganda, when she posted a "grammar Nazi" picture on her social network page.
