Ask Lars Erickssong and Sigrit Ericksdottir - there's nothing quite like an Icelandic scream for relieving stress. These Icelandic characters are played by Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams in the new Netflix comedy Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga. It's a film that is, in equal parts, so charming and so stupid that you'll want to release your own Icelandic scream into the winter night.

Now there's a campaign inviting people from all over the world to let out their best yowl into Iceland's isolated, idyllic landscapes - from the comfort of home.

Over the past few months people have been feeling the pressure of being stuck inside their homes in cramped, small spaces, said Eliza Reid, Iceland's first lady.

"You need some kind of release for it. And so the idea here is that you're able to just release that scream out into empty, Icelandic nature," Reid said.

Iceland's Let It Out campaign was launched in July and encourages participants to record a scream of frustration and then watch and listen via an online video link as it's played from a speaker in a remote Icelandic wilderness.

According to the project's official website, screaming is a therapeutic tool and can release pent-up emotion.
