The man called "Geweld" and his 17 alleged "foot soldiers" accused of a spate of killings and of terrorising Cape Flats families will know their fate today. Cape Town High Court Judge Chantal Fortuin is wrapping up her 800-page judgment in one of the most chilling and complex criminal cases heard in the court.Prosecutors claim George "Geweld" Thomas is the leader of a gang that extorted money from rival drug outlets, shebeens, businesses, taxi operators and others, and killed more than 20 people, including witnesses.Alleged members of the group have been on trial for four years.More than 14 people who had been involved in criminal activities turned state witness and Fortuin granted them immunity from prosecution yesterday.It was alleged in court that Thomas ordered hits on witnesses from prison.Prosecutors used cellphone records to link Thomas to the killings. ..
