More than 1 000 disgruntled residents of Great Kei marched to the municipal offices in Komga on Wednesday to call for Mayor Loyiso Tshetsha's head and the entire council to step down.

Residents accuse the council of failing to deliver services while the mayor plunders municipal funds.

The march comes after his driver crashed the mayor's official car in December last year‚ which is now reportedly being repaired for an estimated R500 000.

Among other grievances residents said the state of roads was poor and RDP houses leak when it rains.

The residents demand that all Great Kei councillors step aside regardless of political affiliation and that a by-election be organised.
