"I fully understand and recognise that my actions were wrong," Cliff acknowledged in a statement read out by his attorney, Werner Bruyns.

Cliff was sentenced to a fine of R10,000 or six months' imprisonment.

Chief Magistrate of the Pretoria Magistrate's Court, Desmond Nair, ordered that the suspension of his driver's licence not take effect.

He was arrested on March 7 after he was caught driving at 182 kilometres an hour in a 120km/h zone near Pretoria.

He was later released on bail.

He appeared in court last Wednesday but the case was postponed because there was an inquiry into whether his licence should be suspended.
