Not only were fans of The Wife saddened by the exit of their fave Abdul Khoza from the show, the funeral for his character Nqoba rubbed them up in the wrong way.

In the recently aired episode, Nqoba was buried in Johannesburg, unlike his other family members, and tweeps felt it was a cold send-off.

“I think we can agree that funeral was disgraceful and Nqoba was very much disrespected. He would have appreciated a Mbuba funeral,” wrote one.

Abdul penned his emotions after viewers saw his character dead. In a lengthy post on Instagram he said he was merely an actor in the series and did not have input on the longevity of his character.

“Id like to take this time to thank everyone who showed me love and support during my time at The Wife. I will always love you, but Id also like to apologise to those who are saddened by my departure from the show.

“Unfortunately, no actor writes their own character's story, so please understand  I cannot change or influence any show to keep any of my characters once they have written the story. I am just an actor right now. Hope we see each other on our next journey. I will forever be honoured and humbled by the love of our viewers and we appreciate each and every one one of you,” he wrote.

Zikhona Sodlaka, who played “Nqoba's” love interest Mandisa, said she was honoured to have worked with such an “incredible” talent.

“I think our chemistry worked because of how dynamic yet similar our characters are. The one is a female version of the other and vice versa. He is the scene partner I didn’t know I needed. We got to play so much on set,” she said.
