Metro FM DJ Tbo Touch said as a businessman he was losing all hope in Mzansi as rolling blackouts in the country were escalated.

Eskom announced on Wednesday that stage 6 load-shedding will be implemented until further notice.

The power utility said 11 generating units amounting to 5,084MW of capacity had suffered breakdowns since Tuesday morning.

Taking to his Twitter timeline after the announcement, the businessman said these power cuts would lead to job losses.

“I don't see my company functioning under stage 6. It's a serious struggle for SMMEs. I can't keep up at all! What must happen now? We are headed for even more job losses. Sad reality and I'm the last person to lose hope but I can't see us surviving this one,” he wrote.

In his mentions other Twitter users shared their concerns.

“This stage 6 load-shedding it's an economic lockdown. I run a small business selling ice cream and ice cubes! What puts bread on my table is as good as dead, can't survive this , losing on ice packages cause the ice are melting. I can’t afford a strong cold room,” commented one.

Eskom published a guide on the load-shedding process late last year, informing the public about how power cuts prevent a total grid collapse.

In the guide to the load-shedding process, Eskom said in the event the grid collapses, there would be a total blackout which would leave the entire country without power for “a few weeks” as it recovers.
