Family and friends gathered at Sacred Heart College in Observatory, Johannesburg on Thursday to pay tribute Tebello "Tibz" Motsoane.

A moment of silence was observed when the Motsoane and Forbes families entered the hall for the celebration of their children's lives

The pair were fatally shot in Durban on February 10.

Tibz was reflected in the way the mourners came dressed in their best garb, smelt good in a bid to show how the chef affected their sense of style and their ability to show love and touch the lives of the many people he crossed paths with.

Tibz was shot dead on Friday evening with his lifelong friend, rapper AKA, outside Wish restaurant in Florida Road, Durban.

On Thursday Tibz's almer mater was filled with his school mates, friends and associates who shared fond memories about their time in the school from basketball to drama and introducing his friends to the latest music and pop culture.

The Sacred Heart College choir opened the service with hymns.

Tebello's lifelong friend Ruli Diseko said his experience with Tibz will forever be the highlight of his life.

“Tebello was really a savant. When I talk to my peers about Tebello, they talk about all his businesses, all the progress he made with his entrepreneurial ventures and some say he hustled. Tebello didn't hustle, he was a businessman. He had businesses, platforms that launched industries. To me Tebello was a Quincy to many Michael Jacksons. For me Tebello one a na le botho. It was his humanness that shone through. He was a very thoughtful, mindful person and he could  open himself up and the light would shine on you and there are so many lessons we learnt from him. He was very consistent.  Tebello was consistently excellent.

Tibz's cousin Steven Kitledi said he was gutted by the chef's death. He shared the mischief they got up to while growing up.

“The one thing I'm definitely going to miss is that engaging smile. Tibz had the warmest and most inviting smile I've ever come across. Once you were with him and he started smiling, followed with that little chuckle, you knew it would be all good, it was going to be a good day. He was passionate about what he did. He was a huge guy, he was a huge character, he was a huge personality. Thank you guys for showing Tibz love.”
