Rapper Shane Eagle is gearing up to release his body of work later this year but in the meantime he's released a new single Hold You, a love song and love letter to his fans.

“I am in the love era. People have seen me be the best lyricist, they've seen me scoop awards and all that but I feel love is a good space to be in ... I am protected by love. The song is a double entendre, its also a message to the fans to hold on to the song while I finish the project that everyone is waiting for,” he told TshisaLIVE.

He's just wrapped up filming the first season of Love & Hip Hop SA, and is stepping into a different season of his life where his music is the focus.

“There are different seasons. My gift allows me to do multiple things at once. Yes I'm a rap star but I'm blessed with a bit more than that so I need to step out of my comfort zone. Doing something like a TV show reminds me of when I first came up. I need to stay true to hip hop because hip hop gave me everything.”

When J Cole visited South Africa, Shane opened for him at the Dome and he's since established a relationship with the rapper and some of his artists under his record label Dreamville.

Since then the rapper went on tour with rapper Bas and worked with other artists from the label and he says fans can anticipate features of him in different projects.

Listening to the music he plans to release Shane is confident he's taking over the music scene in 2023.

“These are the best songs and raps coming from me and the African continent. I don't just want to make it in the league, I want to be the best player in the league, so with this next project, everything I have is to compete at the highest level internationally everywhere.”
