The Red Bull Beat Battle returns

Off the back of an epic first event in 2011, Red Bull Beat Battle returns - this time packing more punch than before.

2011 saw eight of the most talented dance crews in South Africa, specialising in genres ranging from Pantsula, iSbhujwa, Krump, Hip Hop and breaking, handpicked to showcase their talent in a closely fought final in Johannesburg.

In a twist on last year’s competition Johannesburg, Pretoria, Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth will play host to qualifying rounds, with the seven best crews selected from the qualifying rounds to go up against defending champions, Artistic Intelligence.

Those eight crews will then have two months to perfect their routines, making sure every movement is on beat and no foot is out of place. They'll then go up against each other in the ultimate dance-off in Johannesburg, on May 26, for the title of Red Bull Beat Battle Champions.

Last week saw the start of the Winner’s Tour with defending champions, Artistic Intelligence, traveling to nightlife venues around the country to show hopeful crews what they’ll be up against in this year’s competition.
