Kelly Khumalo's team is seeking legal counsel after fake pregnancy reports caused a social media storm on Monday.

Kelly found her name on the Twitter trends list on Monday after a satire news site published a story claiming that Kelly was pregnant with fellow musician Khaya Mthethwa's child.

"The cat was let out of the bag when Kelly Khumalo posted a positive pregnancy test result on Instagram with the caption 'Lil Khaya''', the report on satirical site Live Monitor South Africa read.

  •

Kelly's team lambasted the reports, calling it a complete fabrication and revealing that they are looking into possible legal action against the parties involved.

"We were alerted to a Twitter trend blatantly stating that our client Kelly Khumalo is pregnant with Khaya Mthethwa's (child). We as Kelly Khumalo's management are take this allegation very seriously and we will be seeking legal counsel on this matter," read a statement.

  •

Taking to Twitter, Kelly opened up about the pain that the reports caused her.

"I don't understand why or how people can be so hurtful. I am not dating anyone, I am not pregnant. I am not your social media toy," she tweeted.
