The wheels of an aircraft collapsed during landing at Lanseria Airport on Thursday causing the runway to be temporarily closed, the airport said.

"We had a small aircraft land and the undercarriage collapsed," airport spokeswoman Claudette Vianello said.

The undercarriage includes the wheels.

Vianello said the wheels had come out on landing, but "collapsed".

No injuries were reported. Four people were on board the aircraft at the time.

She said the runway was closed for 45 minutes but had reopened.

"We are 100 percent back on track."

The incident happened around 8.30am.

The Civil Aviation Authority would investigate the incident.
