11 ANC supporters killed in bus accident in Free State

It said most of the passengers had sustained serious to moderate injuries‚ but that one of the injured was in a critical condition in hospital.Confirming the accident‚ the ANC said it was saddened by the tragedy.It added that it was still clarifying details about the accident and would issue further details once they had been verified.“Out thoughts are with the injured and bereaved‚” the ANC said in a brief statement.Athlenda Mathe‚ media liaison officer for Netcare 911‚ said the emergency medical service’s paramedics had worked alongside the Provincial Emergency Service and other services at the scene.“All injured have been transported to various hospitals in Welkom‚ Kroonstad and Winburg‚” Mathe added. ER24 reported that‚ along with other services‚ it had responded after receiving reports that a bus full of people had rolled multiple times.“On arrival‚ paramedics found a bus lying on its roof a short distance away from the main road. Scores of bodies littered the scene‚” ER24 said.Paramedics from various services had begun to triage the injured‚ setting up a staging area for them to be treated‚ it added.“Paramedics are on the scene treating the patients and transporting them to various hospitals for urgent treatment.“It is also believed that some occupants are still trapped under the bus‚” ER24 said...
