Pop singer Lindiwe Suttle has been nominated for the International Songwriting Competition.

Suttle, the daughter of media personality Felicia Mabuza-Suttle, is elated that her song, 1000 Miles, made it into the Top 12 in the performance category for the competition. "My album Kamikaze Art comes out next month. To have a song internationally recognised from my first music project is such an honour," said Suttle.

Competing against more than 20000 entries, Suttle said she was proud that industry leaders such as Jeff Beck, Tom Waits, Nas, Janelle Monae and Anthony Hamilton had deemed her song suitable. Other nominees include Johnny Gray, Matthew Mayfield and Brendon Mendes.

The winners will be announced after public voting on the web.
