Three men were killed and a woman was injured in a head-on collision near Kroonstad in the Free State on Saturday morning, paramedics said.
A VW Polo and a double cab Toyota Hilux crashed into each other at 7am after one of the vehicles veered into oncoming traffic, said ER24 spokeswoman Vanessa Jackson.
Two men in the Polo were declared dead when paramedics arrived.
Another man was trapped in the wreckage, and died while paramedics tried to resuscitate him, Jackson said. A woman from the Hilux with injuries to her legs and pelvis was transported to hospital.
Netcare 911 spokesman Jeffrey Wicks said one of the Hilux’s occupants also died on the scene.
