He ain't heavy - he is Preyen and Preyal Dewani's brother. Shrien Dewani's siblings are fighting hard to prove his innocence.

He is on trial for the murder of his wife, Anni, on November 13 2010 while they were on honeymoon in Cape Town, and has pleaded not guilty.

Since Shrien's trial started in the Cape Town High Court details of exactly how involved brother Preyen and sister Preyal are in his defence have surfaced.

Sneha Mashru, Anni's cousin, testified that on November 14 2010 Preyen phoned to get Anni's sister's number.

"[Preyen] said Anni and Shrien had been robbed. I asked: 'Are they ok?' He said 'Yes, they are fine'," said Mashru.

Anni's sister, Ami Denborg, later broke the news.

Mashru also said that Preyen and Preyal had asked her for Anni's Facebook and e-mail password. After she had given it, they allegedly changed it.

Mashru testified that she saw a document Dewani had been working on that set out the arrangements for Anni's funeral in painstaking detail.

Dewani's counsel, Francois van Zyl, said it was Preyen who had drawn up the document.

It listed the people who would stand in a "greeting line", each allocated a number and position in the line.

Dewani admitted to being a member of gay dating website, Gaydar.net. Simon Johnson, a former employee of the website, testified about Dewani's profile.

On the day of the funeral, Preyal deactivated Dewani's Gaydar account.

"It was done because the media were looking for anything on [Dewani] and the family thought it best to remove it," said Van Zyl.

After the funeral, Preyen and Anni's father, Vinod Hindocha, arranged a meeting at which the families would "clear the air". Mashru secretly recorded the proceedings.
