The third suspect to be arrested in connection with the murder of much-loved Port Elizabeth teacher Jayde Panayiotou on Tuesday claimed he had been assaulted by police. Sizwezakhe Vumazonke made a brief appearance in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court‚ where his case was postponed to 19 June.Magistrate Jan van der Westhuizen had earlier asked Vumazonke what happened to the right side of his face‚ and the suspect said he had been assaulted while in custody.News of Vumazonke’s arrest in New Brighton on Sunday emerged as Panayiotou's businessman husband Christopher was remanded in police custody until June 19 after a brief appearance at the same court on Monday.Media reports on Monday said that the third suspect to be arrested was the man hired to shoot and killed Jayde Panayiotou.A bouncer who worked for one of Christopher's nightspots‚ Thando Siyoli‚ is said to have turned state witness and has given detectives step-by-step details of a hit on Jayde.Siyoli‚ who is alleged to have been paid R30000 to find a shooter to kill her‚ will appear in court again on Thursday. The money was apparently confiscated by police when they arrested Siyoli at his KwaZakhele home. His case is likely to been postponed to June 19 on Thursday so it can be dealt with together with that of Christopher Panayiotou and Sizwezakhe Vumazonke.Police spokesperson Brigadier Marinda Mills on Monday said there is a possibility of more arrests being made in connection with the killing. - RDM News Wire, The Herald..
