Witness in murder trial gunned down at KZN court

KwaZulu-Natal Community Safety MEC Willies Mchunu has condemned the “callous murder” of a witness in broad daylight at the Umlazi court on Monday. The 43-year-old man was shot and killed after he appeared as a witness in court for a murder case‚ the MEC said.Three suspects had approached him at court at about 11am yesterday‚ police said in a separate statement.“It is alleged that one of the suspects pulled out his firearm and fatally shot the man. The victim sustained seven gunshot wounds to the body and died instantly. The suspects fled the scene on foot.”Mchunu today expressed anger and shock at the brazen attack‚ urging anyone who might have any information that might lead to arrests of those responsible to come forward.“I am deeply shocked by this murder. I find it to be totally abhorrent‚ senseless and inhumane. We condemn it and we will follow it until there is an arrest and conviction.“I am assured that members of the police are working around the clock to ensure that those who are responsible for this cold-blooded murder are brought to justice as soon as possible.“We also appeal to whoever might have information in this matter to share it with the police immediately‚” said Mchunu...
