Serena wins the battle of the Williams sisters

To the disappointment of those bemoaning a lack of "characters" at Wimbledon, Nick Kyrgios was beaten in four sets by Richard Gasquet yesterday, bowing out with his usual mix of brilliance and belligerence. The 20-year-old's on-court behaviour often resembles that of a hormonal teenager and he threw in the full range - with a "tanked" game, a warning for an audible obscenity and a seemingly endless running debate with the umpire.None of it could put off Gasquet, however, who triumphed 7-5 6-1 6-7(7) 7-6(6) to take full revenge for losing to Kyrgios a year ago.Serena Williams won the latest instalment of her rivalry with sister Venus as the world No 1 eased into the Wimbledon quarterfinals with a 6-4 6-3 victory. It took just 67 minutes to see off Venus on Centre Court, and she will play Victoria Azarenka (who beat Belinda Bencic 6-2 6-3) for a place in the semifinals."It's hard to feel excited about [beating] someone you root for all the time no matter what and you love so much and is your best friend in the world."It's never easy to play someone you love and care about."But I don't know how many more moments like this we'll have," Serena said.Agnieszka Radwanska beat Jelena Jankovic, who ousted defending champion Petra Kvitova in the previous round, 7-5 6-4, Maria Sharapova beat Zarina Diyas 6-4 6-4, CoCo Vandeweghe beat French Open runner-up Lucie Safarova 7-6(1) 7-6(4) - Reuters, AFP..
