Two guards, two robbers die in shootout

Two security guards and two robbers were killed in a shootout in Rosettenville yesterday after a heist gang hijacked a courier truck and its escort vehicle in Selby, south of Johannesburg. The truck, said a source, had about R4-million worth of cellphones and tablets. Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Katlego Mogale said the robbers then took the truck and car to Kibler Park, where they loaded the cargo into a white BMW and black Nissan Navara. The men then drove to a safe house in Rosettenville.It was there, Mogale said, that a shootout ensued.Johannesburg Flying Squad members heard the shooting, shot two robbers dead and arrested three. Other gang members allegedly jumped over the back wall.The arrested men will appear in court soon...
