Actors' dual Holmes affair

Fans of the BBC's modern-day adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes stories -Sherlock, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman - are abuzz following the release of a trailer for a one-off special. This time Holmes and Watson will do their detecting not in present-day London but in the Victorian era, making Cumberbatch and Freeman the only actors to have played the characters in both the modern and Victorian settings. There's no word yet on when the special will air.In 1971, Hollywood's favourite cool dude, Steve McQueen, made a poorly received film about the Le Mans 24-hour motor race. Now the troubled history of the production and McQueen's passion for racing are the subject of a new documentary, Steve McQueen: The Man and Le Mans, directed by Gabriel Clarke and John McKenna and due for release in the US next month.In its sixth year the Schnit International Shortfilmfestival heads to The Bioscope in Johannesburg from today until October 17.
