An announcement to increase e-toll fees by almost 5% has been met with outrage. The Automobile Association said yesterday the increase was published in the Government Gazette on Tuesday and did not appear on Sanral's website.Motorists were not directly informed either.Jackie Jacobs, 31, a clothing entrepreneur who commutes from Kempton Park to Pretoria, said his e-toll bill stood at R26000 about a year ago. That was when the father of two was still travelling from Johannesburg before moving to Kempton Park."The bills probably still go to my previous address. I do not care to check because I will never pay the bill," he said. The increases come barely six months after Sanral' s e-toll tariffs were reduced due to the public outcry.Organisation for Undoing Tax Abuse, formerly Opposition for Urban Tolling Alliance, said it was disgusted by the increase.Chairman Wayne Duvenage said toll roads had become "tax-driven cash cows"...
