Corruption is rife in schools, traffic departments and immigration offices, says Corruption Watch. Corruption Watch yesterday revealed its annual report on the complaints its offices received last year. Of the 2382 citizens who reported instances of corruption to the organisation last year, 16% involved schools and 12% traffic and licensing departments. Immigration (6%), housing (5%) and health care (3%) were also cited as problem entities.The main complaints were abuse of power (38%), bribery ( 20%), and crooked procurement and employment activities.Corruption Watch director David Lewis said half of the complaints were from Gauteng.Hawks spokesman Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said a risk assessment by his unit showed that corruption was, in fact, most rife in Eastern Cape, North West, Limpopo and Mpumalanga. ..
