New man at the helm of the SIU

President Jacob Zuma has appointed advocate Jan Lekhoa Mothibi as the new head of the Special Investigating Unit. The appointment comes into effect on May 1. Mothibi is currently executive director for legal, governance, risk and compliance at Medscheme Holdings.He has held executive and senior management positions in both the public and private sectors, including at Standard Bank, Nedbank and the SA Revenue Service. He holds, among others, LLB and BProc degrees and a post-graduate diploma in labour law. He has also previously worked as a prosecutor and magistrate. "We congratulate advocate Mothibi on his appointment and wish him all the best in his new responsibilities of the investigation of corruption and maladministration," Zuma said.In March last year Zuma appointed advocate Gerhard Wilhelm Visagie as acting head of the SIU pending a permanent appointment.Visagie's appointment had followed the resignation of advocate Vas Soni for personal reasons in February last year. ..
