US fugitive was working as a part-time auditor when nabbed in Brakpan

An American woman who fled her country while facing sentencing on theft and embezzlement charges almost seven years ago will be extradited.Nichole Lincoln appeared in the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court after the Hawks arrested her at a house she was renting in the East Rand town.She has been kept in custody pending extradition documentation from American authorities‚ and will appear in court again on September 19.Nichole Lincoln. Image: SuppliedHawks spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Netshiunda said the woman was arrested on August 10 after local police were contacted by American authorities.“The Americans found out that somebody who was wanted in their country is in South Africa and‚ procedurally‚ they contacted us‚” he said.“We located her through assistance from the American Embassy.”Lincoln‚ whose maiden surname is King‚ fled America after being found guilty of three counts of theft and embezzlement of funds from her employer.“She was to be sentenced and then she skipped the country. She must go back to be sentenced‚” said Netshiunda‚ who would not say how much money the woman had stolen.She has been in South Africa since December 2010.When she was found in Brakpan‚ Lincoln had been working at a firm as a part-time auditor‚ the Hawks said.“She was working for a company called Coastal Hire. We don’t know how long she has been working for the company.”Netshiunda said the woman is currently married to a South African‚ whose names‚ as stated in the docket‚ is: Kryon Michael Lincoln.A certificate shown to the media states the couple was married on the September 15‚ 2010.Netshiunda said the Hawks will investigate the authenticity of the marriage certificate and‚ if it is found to be fraudulent‚ the woman’s husband will be charged.“As it stands‚ there is no case against him. He claims that they are married. We have the documentation.He added that if “we find the documentation to be fraudulent‚ that is only when we will charge him with fraud”.“We have our suspicions about it.”He said Lincoln will be kept in custody until the Hawks receive extradition documents from American authorities to send her back to her country.“Ours is to get the proper documentation from the American authorities and extradite her back to America.” – TMG Digital..
