TV biopic for Spears

The US Lifetime channel has set its sights on Britney Spears as the subject of its next TV biopic, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Natasha Bassett will star as the beleaguered Mouseketeer who became the target of so much derision on gossip sites in the Noughties.The news comes days before the release of Glory, the singer's ninth studio album, and her appearance on James Corden's Carpool Karaoke series.It was already a remake of a Hong Kong action thriller when it won Martin Scorsese an Oscar in 2006. Now The Departed is set for a further incarnation as a TV series. The series will relocate the action to Chicago and will be released by Amazon.Fans of TV series Stranger Things can catch the "Behind Stranger Things" collection of films that inspired the show at The Bioscope in Johannesburg from next week.
