Youths use fireworks to blow up dog - with video

Video footage has emerged showing a group of young men using fireworks to blow up a live dog.

"The yobs are seen laughing as they tie two huge fireworks around the helpless animal's body," The UK's Express reports.

The youths managed to light the fuse after several attempts. They then ran off to safety.

After a thunderous explosion, there was smoke but the dog was nowhere to be seen.

According to the report the footage is believed to have come from the town of  El Negrito, Yoro province, in Hondouras, in December.

The youths were apparently handed a fine of about R1,050, and sentenced to perform community service.
